184 male and female players participate in the Kingdom Chess Championship in Riyadh

The Saudi Chess Federation has announced that the Kingdom’s Chess Championship will be held from November 30 to December 4, 2021 at the headquarters of the Saudi Paralympic Committee in Riyadh under the supervision of the International Chess Federation FIDE.

The tournament, which will be judged by a team of Saudi referees with international titles, will see the competition of 184 male and female players from all regions of the Kingdom for a period of 5 days and through 7 round of the classic chess system to obtain the world title in two main categories, male and female.

The competition in the men’s category will be for the championship title and the seizure of one of the five cards that entitle you to compete for the initial list of the Saudi chess team and the formation of the initial green chess list for the elderly and Sunni groups, while the women’s category competitions will be held in the same way to represent the first Saudi women’s chess team.

For his part, the president of the Saudi Chess Federation, Mr. Abdullah bin Salem Al-Wahshi, indicated the willingness of the federation to organize this tournament in consistent with international professional practices with the aim of increasing competition between players and players, attracting talents and placing them in the ranks of national teams. He pointed out that the Chess Federation has reached many partnerships with the private sector and government sectors in an effort to popularize the game and provide support that contributes to the achievement of sustainable chess development and the development of the technical levels of players, players and referees in the men’s sector. and female categories.

The Saudi Chess Federation has invited women from all over the Kingdom to participate in this tournament, as their participation will contribute to the formation of the first Saudi women’s chess team.
