4.6 magnitude earthquake hits the eastern province of Samar in the Philippines

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook the eastern province of Samar and adjacent areas of the Philippines today.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake occurred 18 km southwest of the city of Hernani, at a depth of 28 km.

There were no reports of casualties or material damage.
