The San Francisco 49ers (11-3) claimed control of the NFC with a home loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week. That loss put the 49ers behind the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West, and a second loss to Seattle in Week 17 will send San Francisco on the road for the first round of the playoffs. The 49ers’ attention is on the Los Angeles Rams (8-6) this week though, and a win would put them in a position to secure the potential number of seeds in the postseason in their season finale.
As for the Rams, they still have little chance of making the playoffs, but they must also win Minnesota to lose their last two games to slip into the postseason. The Rams will benefit from more than just a touchdown next week against the Arizona Cardinals if they upset the 49ers, and the Vikings have nasty games against Green Bay and Chicago to end the year.

49ers vs. Rams of all time

Four trends to know
– Nearly two-thirds of bets like San Francisco to cover Saturday night.
– Bad money is at the bottom as 66% of bets have come to an end, but the line is still falling.
– The Rams are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, but are 22-46 ATS in their last 68 road games against a team with a winning record

Three things to look out for
Defense of San Francisco
The 49ers have had one of the best defenses in the NFL for most of the season, but the defense has struggled in recent weeks. The loss of linebacker Kwon Alexander and nose tackle D.J. Jones made this front seven easier to run, and San Francisco now allows 4.6 YPC. Jaquiski Tartt’s strong safety starts and Dee Ford’s defensive end will miss this game due to injury too, so Todd Gurley and the Rams could find the success of running the ball.
The reigning NFL defensive player of the year
Aaron Donald has won the last two award-winning defensive players of the year and has another stellar season. Donald has 11 sacks and 22 tackles for loss in 2019 and his game has opened up for teammates like Dante Fowler Jr. and Clay Matthews. Opponents are constantly doubling Donald’s team as he is the most upset player in the NFL, but if he can make the impact felt, the Rams could pull the trigger.
The receivers of LA
The Rams have one of the best trio wins in the league. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods will both be receiving 1,000 yards if they stay healthy and Brandin Cooks remains a serious threat during the race. Kupp and Woods have been targeted 236 times and Jared Goff will be constantly looking their way.
Player to watch
George Kittle is the best rounder in the NFL. Kittle is a destructive blocker who constantly runs his blocks with power, and is also an excellent collector. He comes off his best game of the season against Atlanta last week and is the most important person in this offense outside of Jimmy Garoppolo.
49ers vs. prediction Rams
Los Angeles is a living dog in this game due to San Francisco injuries. Thieves have a real shot to pull off the upset, but they don’t have a linebacker who can match Kittle. Look for him to be the difference maker.
