52 people were killed and 25 injured in the floods in Sudan

Floods caused by torrential rains in Sudan have killed at least 52 people and damaged thousands of homes since the beginning of the rainy season last May.

The official Sudanese news agency quoted the official spokesman of the National Council for Civil Protection, Abdel Jalil Abdel Rahim, that the number of victims of torrential rains and rains in all states in the country reached 52 dead and 25 injured, also noting that 5,345 houses collapsed completely in all of Sudan, and 2,862 houses partially collapsed. In addition, 16 public services and 39 shops and warehouses collapsed and agricultural land of onearea of 540 acres were affected by torrential waters.

Abdel Jalil Abdel Rahim said: “The states most affected by torrential rains and floods are the Nile River State, northern and southern Kordofan and southern Darfur.”

In a report released Monday, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimated that around 38,000 people in all of Sudan have been hit by rains and floods since the beginning of the rainy season.
