7 soldiers injured as the F-35 plane lands on a US aircraft carrier

A US Army F-35C plane crashed yesterday while attempting to land on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, injuring seven sailors, the United States Navy said. Three of the injured sailors were transported in airplane in a hospital in Manila, Philippines, are in stable conditions, while four injured sailors received treatment aboard the aircraft carrier. The pilot went out in security and was rescued by a military helicopter.

A Pacific Fleet spokesman declined to say whether the plane had been recovered and other details about the circumstances surrounding the crash were not disclosed.

The incident occurred during normal flight operations in the South China Sea.
