74% of German companies complain of problems in the management of materials prime

The Ifo institute said that supply constraints to German industry worsened in November and that the number of companies complaining of problems in the management of inputs and materials prime was 74.4%, in increase of four percentage points compared to October.

“There is no sign of the hoped-for breakthrough,” said Klaus Vollrabe, director of the Munich-based institute, warning that these obstacles will be reflected in prices.

“Never before have so many companies said they want to raise prices,” he added.

The institute said the survey it is conducting for German companies has found the severity of supply constraints in all sectors except the electrical equipment sector, where the percentage of companies complaining of problems fell from 90% to 85%.
