80-Year-Old Steve Skeates, Iconic Comic Book Writer and Co-Creator of Hawk & Dove, Passes Away

Steve Skeates, a prominent comic book writer who worked for DC, Marvel, Archie, Warren, Charlton, and Tower, has passed away at the age of 80. Skeates began his career at Marvel as an assistant to Stan Lee before moving on to freelance writing. He worked on Undersea Agent and T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents at Tower Comics in 1966, and later created Hawk and Dove with Steve Ditko for DC Comics in 1968. Skeates also wrote for Aquaman and co-created Plop!. He continued writing for various publishers until his passing and received the Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing in 2012.
