Alibaba Group has announced that Daniel Zhang, chairman and chief executive officer of its cloud business, will be stepping down.

Previously, Zhang had been simultaneously heading the entire Alibaba Group as well as its cloud unit.

Effective immediately, Eddie Wu will take over as the group’s CEO and will also assume the leadership of the cloud unit following Zhang’s departure.
