Stellar Blade just shattered expectations with its PC release, emerging as PlayStation’s most successful single-player title on Steam. The excitement around this port, which launched last week, has led it to reach an impressive 192,078 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
This feat outclasses PlayStation’s previous record for PC titles, with Helldivers 2, which peaked at 458,709 players but launched simultaneously on console and PC. In contrast, while other titles, such as Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, hit 77,154 players, and God of War attracted 73,529 players, Stellar Blade’s recent surge showcases a turning tide for single-player games on the platform.
Compared to other titles, like The Last of Us games, which managed a mere 30,000 concurrent players, Stellar Blade proves that shorter release windows can lead to higher engagement. PlayStation’s focused approach on its presence in the PC market seems to be paying off, albeit still a distance from simultaneous releases.
Rumors are swirling as earlier this year, Shift Up hinted at plans for a sequel to the PS5 action title, projecting a release that could come sooner than expected. While PlayStation keeps inching closer to day-and-date releases, gamers are eager to see how this trend shapes the industry landscape in the coming years.
