eFootball Celebrates 30 Years with Exciting Retro Mode

eFootball has just dropped an exciting update that’s bound to thrill long-time fans: a brand-new retro-inspired mode! To mark the legendary 30th anniversary of the Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution Soccer series, now known as eFootball, gamers can dive into the nostalgic Time Leap Trials.

This unique mode takes inspiration from the very first game in the series, the PS1 classic World Soccer Winning Eleven, which was released in the West as Goal Storm. If you’re all about that trip down memory lane, this is one mode you won’t want to miss.

In this limited-time challenge, players are tasked with scoring a goal against an AI opponent as quickly as possible. You may be wondering what’s at stake? Well, depending on your recorded time, you’ll earn Medals and Rewards that match the speed of your scoring prowess. And there’s more: by clearing all challenges and collecting Medals of the same color, you can snag even more Medal Rewards!

But wait, there’s an extra twist! Once all challenges have been completed, a special extra Challenge awaits, where goal times are recorded in a ranking format. Players can earn fantastic Ranking Rewards based on their final position at the end of the event. So, feel free to challenge yourself repeatedly to nab the fastest goal possible!

Celebrating with Nostalgia

The Time Leap Trials mode is part of eFootball’s newly launched Nostalgia Campaign, which is filled with many exciting features celebrating three decades of gaming glory. This includes special Epic Nostalgia player cards showcasing legends like Roberto Baggio, Adriano, and Gerard Piqué, all designed with retro character models. While the in-game players still look modern, it’s a fantastic throwback for fans who remember the series’ roots!

This update follows an impressive overhaul back in April, when eFootball incorporated support for crossplay and enabled gameplay against AI opponents in the previously online-only eFootball League mode. General producer Junichi Taya highlighted that the introduction of AI opponents aims to make the game more accessible, especially to those who might hesitate to jump into online matchmaking right away. It’s a smart move to encourage players to transition into the online arena at their own pace.
