Amy Dowden has once again captured the hearts of fans with her latest announcement—the reveal of her new book cover. The 34-year-old Welsh dancer, best known for her stunning performances on Strictly Come Dancing, shared the cover of her memoir, “Dancing in the Rain,” which chronicles her courageous battle with breast cancer.
Having been given the all-clear in February 2024, after a tumultuous year battling the disease, Amy is back on the dance floor, showcasing her resilience. The book not only recounts her challenges—undergoing chemotherapy and a mastectomy—but also offers a message of hope for those facing their own trials. In her announcement, she wrot”So guys, here it is, the day I’ve been waiting for…the reveal of the cover to my book, Dancing in the Rain, paperback edition. I hope my personal story can be inspirational for anyone facing challenges, big or small, and if that is you, that it helps you to find the courage to rise up and meet them.”
With the paperback edition set to hit shelves on August 28, Amy encouraged her followers to pre-order. “I hope you like the new cover as much as I do,” she added, receiving an outpouring of support. Fans took to the comments to express their admiration and share their personal stories. One remarked, “I’m currently battling stage 4 cancer, so I know what you went through. Will purchase as it might help me.”
Another fan chimed in, “Amy, thank you for signing my hardback book when I met you in Liverpool. Good luck on Strictly. Lots of love.” The positivity surrounding her book was palpable, with numerous fans declaring it the “most incredible & inspiring book I have ever read!”
Amy’s impact extends beyond her memoir. Earlier this year, she was honored with an MBE for her tireless efforts in fundraising and raising awareness, particularly in relation to inflammatory bowel disease. Having been open about her lifelong struggle with Crohn’s disease, she continues to inspire others through her advocacy. “It’s really surreal,” she expressed about receiving the MBE. “It’s been like an out-of-body experience but is a true honor to get one. I will forever do what I can to raise awareness and fundraise for Crohn’s and colitis.” Her commitment to helping others, especially in light of her recent battle with breast cancer, resonates deeply with many.
Marianne Radcliffe, chief executive of Crohn’s and Colitis UK, echoed this sentiment, stating, “People never used to talk about Crohn’s or Colitis, but Amy has really helped to normalize conversations about these conditions, adding some of her trademark sparkle.”
