Nintendo Switch 2 Breaks Records with Massive Sales
Nintendo Switch 2 has made a stunning impact on the gaming world, selling over 6 million units in just seven weeks since its release. This announcement comes from Nintendo’s latest financial report, highlighting the console’s impressive performance during its early days.
The launch of Switch 2 was bolstered by the highly anticipated game, Mario Kart World, which sold 5.63 million copies in its first month. Together, the console and its flagship game have set impressive records, with Switch 2 selling 5.82 million units in June and an astonishing 8.67 million games overall.
A Launch to Remember
Mario Kart World has secured its spot as the second largest launch in the franchise’s history, trailing only behind Mario Kart Wii. The title was also included in various hardware bundles, showcasing its pivotal role in driving initial sales. These figures have catapulted Switch 2 to achieve a record-breaking launch, far surpassing the PlayStation 5, which managed 4.5 million units within its first seven weeks, albeit with notable stock shortages.
In addition to the triumphant launch of Switch 2, Nintendo reported selling nearly 1 million units of the original Nintendo Switch, pushing total sales close to 153.1 million. This figure positions the original Switch just shy of the company’s all-time best-seller, the Nintendo DS, which sits at 154 million units sold.
Despite these outstanding numbers, Nintendo has noted that there will be no changes to its financial forecasts for the current fiscal year. The company aims to sell 15 million consoles by March 2026, setting a challenging yet attainable goal as the new console captivates gamers worldwide.
