Genshin Impact’s PS4 Version to Be Discontinued
Genshin Impact, the wildly popular action RPG, is making a major shift in its gaming landscape. Developer MiHoYo has announced that it will be discontinuing support for the game on the PlayStation 4.
In a recent statement on its official website, MiHoYo revealed that the decision stems from “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size.” This has left PS4 players pondering their next steps, especially as the game continues to thrive on newer consoles.
What Does This Mean for PS4 Players?
The PS4 version of Genshin Impact will officially be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10. From that date onward, players who haven’t previously downloaded the game will be unable to find it, although those who have can still re-download it. The news comes as a significant blow to many, given the game’s strong fanbase on the platform.
After the delisting, players can still make in-game purchases and top-ups, but this feature will end on February 25, 2026. Following that, all update support ceases on April 8, 2026, meaning PS4 players will no longer be able to log into Genshin Impact.
MiHoYo is encouraging PS4 users to transition their accounts to the PlayStation 5 or other supported platforms. Starting December 17, players will receive prompts to facilitate this transition.
Performance Adjustments Across Other Platforms
While the PS4 version faces shutdown, MiHoYo is also raising the bar for the game on iOS and Android devices. With the upcoming Song of the Welkin Moon update, stricter minimum and recommended specifications will come into play. For iOS users, only certain models like the iPhone 8 Plus and iPad Mini (5th gen) will be eligible.
On the Android side, devices running Android 10 or higher will be necessary, specifically those equipped with 4GB of RAM and modern processors like the Snapdragon 660. MiHoYo cautioned that devices falling short of these specs may experience significant performance issues such as frame rate drops and crashes.
As fans brace for this upcoming change, it remains to be seen how this will impact future updates and community interactions. With continued support for the PS5, Genshin Impact appears to be moving towards a more advanced gaming experience, leaving behind the limitations of previous hardware.
Stay tuned to see how this shift shapes the world of Genshin Impact as it strives to offer a polished and immersive experience for its dedicated player base.
