How to Disable Apple’s Maps Visited Places Feature

Apple’s recent release of iOS 26 on September 15 has introduced an array of intriguing features, including the much-discussed Liquid Glass, call and text screening capabilities, and a suite of hidden functionalities. Among these, the new Visited Places feature in the Maps app stands out, allowing the tracking of your movements. While it may be beneficial for recalling that quaint restaurant you enjoyed a few weeks back, it’s understandable to have privacy concerns regarding the information it collects.

Apple assures users that they cannot access these locations, and you have the option to delete them if desired. However, if you’re apprehensive about this feature being enabled by default, here’s how to disable Visited Places in your Maps app.

Stop Maps from logging your visited places

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Select Maps.
4. Tap Location.
5. Toggle off Visited Places.

Once you’ve done this, your Maps app will no longer track your visited locations. Users might notice that upon first arriving at this menu, the toggle for Visited Places may be unresponsive. If that happens, try toggling the Precise Location feature off and back on; this should allow you to disable Visited Places smoothly.

Additionally, there’s an option for Preferred Routes & Predicted Destinations. This feature learns your driving habits and helps navigate any delays by suggesting detours. If you prefer to keep your driving patterns private, you can also turn this feature off within the same menu.

Delete previous Visited Places

If you’re comfortable with Visited Places but wish to remove specific entries, simply navigate to Maps > Places > Visited Places. From there, you can swipe left on individual locations to delete them. To clear the entire list at once, tap Clear History at the bottom of the menu.

For more insights into iOS 26, you can explore features like adjusting the Liquid Glass effects or enabling call screening on your iPhone. Engaging with these updates not only makes your device more user-friendly but also ensures that your privacy is respected.
