Skyrim players can now recruit a sentient piece of Swedish furniture as their latest follower. Released on September 9, 2026, the “Kallax Storageborn” is a free official Creation developed by Kinggath Creations in collaboration with IKEA. The mod adds a fully voiced Kallax shelving unit to the game, featuring original dialogue recorded by actor Matt Berry.
Unlike traditional followers found in taverns or cities, the quest to obtain the Kallax initiates automatically the moment a player becomes over-encumbered. This trigger leads players into a new Dwemer-inspired dungeon to recover the legendary storage unit.
Abilities and the ‘AYE-KEY-YAH’ Shout
The Kallax companion serves as more than a stationary chest; it is a mobile storage solution with unlimited carrying capacity and a specialized auto-looting function. In combat, the unit features custom animations and can actively assist the player.
The mod also introduces a new Dragon Shout, “AYE-KEY-YAH.” Once unlocked through the questline, this shout allows players to summon the shelving unit to their location even if it is not currently set as their active companion. This mechanic is designed to mitigate the inventory management issues that typically plague high-level characters.
New Gear and the Clutter Golem
The collaboration includes several themed items that players can acquire during the quest. These include:
- The Allenblade: A magical weapon modeled after a Dwemer-inspired hex key or Allen wrench.
- Meatball Helmet: A unique piece of heavy armor.
- Meatball Companion: A smaller, secondary summonable pet.
According to PCGamesN, the quest concludes with a boss fight against a “Clutter Golem,” a massive entity composed of various household items found within the new dungeon.
Platform Availability
The Kallax Storageborn mod is currently available for download on PC and Xbox through the Skyrim Creations menu. While the mod is currently live on those platforms, Kotaku reports that the PlayStation release is listed as “to follow,” with an official launch date for Sony consoles yet to be confirmed.
The project was handled by Kinggath Creations, the development studio best known for the “Sim Settlements” series for Fallout 4, ensuring the mod carries a level of polish consistent with official Bethesda content.
