Prime Video has officially secured the leading trio for its upcoming series adaptation of Things We Never Got Over, the first installment of Lucy Score’s bestselling Knockemout trilogy. According to Amazon MGM Studios, Molly Griggs, Matthew Noszka, and Tommy Martinez have been cast as the central figures in the small-town romance and mystery.
The series follows the story of Naomi Witt, who arrives in the town of Knockemout to rescue her estranged twin sister, Tina, only to find herself stranded without a car or money, caring for a niece she didn’t know existed. The source material has sold over 15 million copies globally, establishing a massive pre-existing audience for the streaming adaptation.
Dual Roles and the Morgan Brothers
Molly Griggs, known for her roles in The Residence and Servant, will take on the demanding dual lead as estranged twins Naomi and Tina Witt. This casting is central to the series’ plot, which blends romance with elements of a thriller as Naomi navigates the chaos left behind by her sister.
Matthew Noszka, who recently appeared in All’s Fair, has been cast as the “bad-boy” barber Knox Morgan. Knox is a loner who prefers a quiet life until Naomi’s arrival upends his routine. Joining him is Tommy Martinez, known for Good Trouble, who will play Knox’s brother, Nash Morgan. The casting of the Morgan brothers is a focal point for fans of the trilogy, as the characters’ contrasting personalities drive much of the interpersonal drama in the fictional town of Knockemout.
Production Timeline and Creative Team
Production for the series is currently underway in Vancouver. According to Hollywood North Buzz, filming began on September 8, 2026, and is scheduled to continue through December 15, 2026. This window places the project on track for a potential 2027 release, though Prime Video has not yet confirmed an official premiere date.
The series is being helmed by showrunners and writers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, who previously worked together on Ringer and Supernatural. Jennifer Morrison, known for her acting roles in House and Once Upon a Time as well as her directing work on Dr. Death, is confirmed to direct the pilot episode.
The adaptation represents a significant move by Prime Video to capitalize on the “BookTok” phenomenon. By securing a creative team with experience in both character-driven drama and genre storytelling, the studio appears to be leaning into the book’s specific blend of lighthearted romance and darker subplot elements. While the current production focus is on the first book, the Knockemout series includes two subsequent novels, Things We Hide from the Light and Things We Left Behind, which focus on other members of the community.
