Slow Horses Season 7 Set for 2027 Release Following Production Wrap

Apple TV+’s espionage drama Slow Horses is set to maintain its remarkably consistent production rhythm, with Season 7 planned for a 2027 release window. Actor Christopher Chung, who portrays technical expert Roddy Ho, confirmed the timeline during an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026.

The update arrives just as the Slough House team prepares for the launch of Season 6, which is scheduled to premiere on September 16, 2026. This development cycle has become a hallmark of the series, ensuring viewers rarely wait more than a year for new installments of the Mick Herron adaptation.

Production Status and Showrunner Transition

While Season 6 is the immediate focus for the platform, production on Season 7 has already reached a significant milestone. Filming for the seventh installment reportedly wrapped in late August 2026, positioning the series well ahead of its planned 2027 debut. This efficiency persists despite a change in leadership behind the scenes for the upcoming chapters.

Ben Vanstone is serving as the showrunner and head writer for Season 7, taking over the lead creative duties following Gaby Chiappe’s tenure on the sixth season. Vanstone’s leadership marks a new phase for the series as it continues to adapt Herron’s long-running “Slough House” book series.

Return to Single-Novel Adaptation

Season 7 will see Slow Horses return to its original structural model of adapting one novel per season. The upcoming episodes will draw from Mick Herron’s eighth Slough House novel, titled Bad Actors. This follows an experimental approach in Season 6, which navigated a narrative structure blending multiple elements from the source material.

The return to a single-book focus suggests a more concentrated narrative for the disgraced MI5 agents as they navigate the fallout of previous missions. The sixth season is already generating momentum, with Apple TV+ having recently debuted an enthralling trailer highlighting the high-stakes espionage that has defined the Gary Oldman-led series.

In addition to the core cast, Season 6 features the return of Olivia Cooke as Sidonie “Sid” Baker. Her reappearance is expected to influence the trajectory of the series heading into the Bad Actors storyline in Season 7, as the show maintains its status as a cornerstone of the Apple TV+ scripted lineup.
