Hulu has confirmed that the supernatural horror film Hokum will begin streaming on October 10, 2026. The announcement follows a successful theatrical run for the title, which positions the film as a primary addition to the platform’s seasonal horror programming.
Directed by Damian McCarthy, Hokum features Adam Scott as Ohm Bauman, a reclusive horror novelist. The narrative centers on Bauman as he visits the remote Bilberry Woods Hotel in Ireland, a location steeped in local folklore. The plot follows the writer as he investigates the hotel’s honeymoon suite, where a witch is reportedly trapped, blending traditional Irish folk-horror elements with the “troubled author” archetype.
The film’s move to streaming comes after significant financial performance in theaters earlier this year. Produced on a budget of approximately $5 million, Hokum grossed between $24.5 million and $25 million globally. This commercial success further establishes McCarthy as a notable figure in modern horror, following his work on previous genre entries Caveat and Oddity.
The film originally made its world premiere at the SXSW 2026 Schedule on March 14, 2026, before its wide theatrical release on May 1. McCarthy wrote and directed the project.
Subscribers will be able to access the film starting in the second week of October, joining Hulu’s existing library of independent horror acquisitions.
