Grinding Gear Games released Path of Exile 2 update 0.5.5c on September 18, 2026. For players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, this deployment is identified as version 1.124. The update addresses a rare progression block in the Legacy of the Precursors questline and introduces quality-of-life improvements for endgame encounters.

Quest and Progression Changes

The primary focus of this update is resolving an issue in the Legacy of the Precursors questline where players could become stuck after defeating the Arbiter of Divinity. To ensure quest integrity, the developer has also modified how critical quest items are distributed during boss encounters.

Players must now be present in the arena at the time of a boss’s death to collect the following items:

  • Origin Spark
  • Origin Cradle
  • Ancient Crisis Fragment
  • Weathered Crisis Fragment

Gameplay Updates and Quality of Life

In the Trial of the Sekhemas, players can now access an “Identify Items” option through Balbala. This allows for immediate item assessment without leaving the trial area. Additionally, the update corrects a reward error for the Trial of Chaos; the “Wager of Chaos” modifier now correctly grants +2 minimum rewards at the second tier, rather than the previous +1.

For players engaging with the Runesmithing system, the update ensures that Runesmithing Knowledge unlocks are correctly retained during character migrations from Solo Self-Found (SSF) leagues or following a character death in Hardcore mode.

Technical Stability and Fixes

This patch includes several backend improvements to reduce game interruptions. According to the official Path of Exile forum, the following stability issues were resolved:

  • Fixed 3 distinct client crashes.
  • Fixed 3 distinct instance crashes.

These changes are currently live across all supported platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
