A recently unveiled “Cosbi” collection from Hot Toys, currently featured by Sideshow, includes figures for Cyclops, Magneto, and a Sentinel. Fans have noted a specific, grim detail in the set: the Sentinel figure is depicted violently squeezing the Cyclops figure. This visual choice is being interpreted by many as a potential spoiler for the character’s narrative arc in the film.
The theory gained traction due to the movie’s ties to the 2015 Secret Wars comic book run. In that source material, Victor von Doom—portrayed in the upcoming film by Robert Downey Jr.—famously kills Cyclops during a confrontation in Secret Wars #4 by snapping his neck. Given that the Russo Brothers are known for drawing inspiration from major comic events, the merchandise’s depiction of Cyclops in a lethal predicament has led to concerns that James Marsden’s reported return to the role may be short-lived.
