The 6666 spinoff, which was initially announced in 2021 to explore the history and modern operations of the legendary Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, has remained in development limbo for years. Jefferson White plays the character Jimmy Hurdstrom, who has been a central figure in the narrative threads established at the Texas ranch.
The Real-World Acquisition of the Four Sixes
The status of the 6666 series appears to be influenced by Taylor Sheridan’s real-life business ventures. In 2022, Sheridan led an investment group to purchase the actual Four Sixes Ranch for over $320 million. This acquisition created a unique complication for the production, as Sheridan has expressed a desire to preserve the authenticity of the working ranch rather than treating it primarily as a television set.
According to The Playlist, Sheridan has indicated that the long-planned project might not materialize in its original form because he is hesitant to over-fictionalize the property. While the standalone series has not materialized, Sheridan maintains a narrative connection to the ranch while allowing the real-world location to function without the permanent logistical footprint of a dedicated series production.
