Developer WayForward and publisher Boss Team Games have released update 1.011 (v1.0.3) for Halloween: The Game, introducing buffs to Michael Myers to combat certain strategies while reducing the grind for specific character challenges. The update was released on September 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
A primary focus of this patch is the recovery mechanic for Michael. To address instances where the killer could be repeatedly pinned, Michael now receives temporary Stagger immunity, Damage Resistance, Melee Damage, Melee Attack Speed, Health Regeneration, and Daze Resistance immediately after recovering from a Downed state.
Civilian Rebalancing and Meta Changes
To further adjust the combat dynamic, the damage boost provided by the “Drunk” status effect has been nerfed. Additionally, Civilian melee effectiveness has been reduced at high stat values. Other gameplay balance adjustments include:
- Athleticism: Movement and sprint speed effectiveness was reduced at high stat values but increased at lower stat values.
- Weapon Spawns: The spawn frequency of Rifles, Shotguns, and heavy Melee Weapons has been lowered across all maps.
- Pocket Knife: The difficulty of the “break free” minigame when using a Pocket Knife has been slightly increased.
Progression and Challenge Adjustments
A quality-of-life fix ensures that passive challenges continue gaining progress after a player prestiges. Challenge requirements have also been adjusted; for example, the “Handyman Special” challenge for Eric has been reduced from 45 completions to 30.
The scoring system has been shifted to reward objective-based play. Killing “Special Targets” now yields a lower score, while the rewards for saving or killing “Residents” have been increased.
According to the official Steam Community notes, these changes are intended to adjust the power dynamic between the slasher and the survivors, ensuring Michael remains a persistent threat after being temporarily neutralized.
