Warframe Update 2.54 Patch Notes (1.061): Narin and Banshee Rework

Digital Extremes launched Warframe Update 44, titled “Iceblade of Narin,” for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One. This major update introduces Narin as a playable Warframe, a comprehensive rework for Banshee, and the debut of the Riven Trait Locking system.

Narin and the Yuvan’s Peak Relay

Narin is a frost-themed Warframe designed with a focus on Cold damage and rapier-based combat. Blueprints for Narin involve a new resource called Entropic Kuva. This resource is dropped exclusively by Entropic Eximus, a new enemy variant found within Zariman missions.

The update also introduces Yuvan’s Peak, a new Earth Relay hub. Access to this location is restricted to players who have completed the following prerequisite quests:

  • Angels of the Zariman
  • Whispers in the Walls

Banshee Ability Rework

Banshee has received significant mechanical changes to improve her utility as an armor-stripping support frame.

  • Sound Quake: This ability is no longer channeled. Activating Sound Quake now creates a 25-second area of effect, allowing Banshee to move and use other abilities while it remains active.
  • Sonic Boom: The ability now provides a base 70% armor reduction. This effect scales with Ability Strength and can reach a full 100% armor strip.

Riven Trait Locking and Splicing

The Riven expansion introduces Trait Locking, a system that allows players to lock a specific stat during the cycling process. When a trait is locked, it remains on the Riven during the next roll, though this process doubles the required Kuva cost for that cycle.

Additional Riven features and the new Glacial Defiance game mode are scheduled for release on or before October 15, 2026. This includes the Riven Splicing mechanic.

“Weak Point” System Unification

A significant change has been implemented to how the game identifies successful precision hits. The “Weak Point” update unifies existing “On Headshot” triggers with other enemy weak points. Mods and Arcanes that previously required a headshot—such as Primary Deadhead and Argon Scope—will now activate when hitting any identified weak point on an enemy.

Citrine Prime Access and Balance Adjustments

Citrine Prime Access is now live across all supported platforms. This package includes the Prime variants of the Steflos and Corufell weapons. Alongside the new Prime access, Digital Extremes has adjusted Hydroid Prime’s base statistics. Hydroid Prime now possesses 290 Shields and 650 Armor.

Gameplay Impact Analysis

The rework of Banshee’s Sound Quake significantly alters her playstyle, moving her from a stationary channeling state to a mobile zone-control frame. By decoupling her from the channeling animation, players can maintain crowd control while actively engaging in combat. Furthermore, the unification of headshot triggers means weapons utilizing Deadhead Arcanes will see an increase in up-time when facing varied enemy factions where a traditional head may be difficult to target.
