Total War Warhammer 3 Update 9.0 Patch Notes: Neferata FLC and 30% Faster End-Turns

Creative Assembly has released Update 9.0 for Total War: Warhammer III on September 24, 2026. This major update arrives alongside the Lords of the End Times DLC, introducing significant performance optimizations and new mechanics for both Chaos and Undead factions.

Performance and Technical Improvements

The headline technical change in Update 9.0 is a substantial optimization of campaign performance. End-turn times have been reduced by an average of 30%, a technical improvement designed to maintain game flow during the late-game stages of Immortal Empires.

Neferata and the Silver Pinnacle

Neferata enters the roster as a Free-LC Legendary Lord. She begins her campaign at the Silver Pinnacle, which has been expanded into a 10-slot settlement to reflect its status as her seat of power.

Archaon: Subjugation and Confederation

Archaon the Everchosen receives a transformative update to his campaign mechanics. He can now subjugate other Chaos Legendary Lords after defeating them in battle, which results in the target faction being confederated into his own.

This mechanic allows Archaon to effectively lead a unified front of Chaos mortals and daemonic servants through direct conquest and assimilation of rival Legendary Lords.

New Gameplay Mechanics

Several systemic changes have been introduced to alter the pace of campaign movement and army management:

  • Escalating Wounds: A new “Recently Wounded” trait system has been implemented. This trait has three levels that increase the recovery time for characters who are repeatedly defeated in short succession.
  • Regiments of Renown Limits: Army-wide capacity limits for Regiments of Renown are now tied to Lord rank. Legendary Lords have a maximum capacity of 8 units, while regular Lords are limited to 5.
  • Portable Books of Nagash: The Books of Nagash are no longer static rewards. They are now carried by Lords or stored within settlements, allowing them to be stolen or transferred between different factions.

Factions and Re-Emergence

Daemonic factions now have a mechanism to return to the campaign map after being wiped out. Under the “Daemonic Re-Emergence” system, defeated daemonic factions can respawn in provinces that maintain high levels of corruption.

Slaanesh building chains have also undergone reorganization. This includes the addition of a new Tier 4 building, the Pavilion of Perfection, designed to streamline the faction’s infrastructure and recruitment options.
