Ghost of Yotei Update 2.005 Patch Notes: QSSR AI Upscaling & Transmog

Sucker Punch Productions has released Ghost of Yotei update 2.005 (version 2.005.000) on October 1, 2026. This patch introduces Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) to the standard PlayStation 5, bringing AI-guided upscaling to the base console alongside the launch of the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion.

AI-Powered Upscaling via QSSR

The primary technical addition in version 2.005.000 is Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR). Developed through Project Amethyst, a collaboration between Sony and AMD, QSSR utilizes a streamlined neural network specifically hand-tuned for standard PS5 hardware. While the PS5 Pro continues to use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) as its lead technology, QSSR allows base PS5 players to benefit from machine-learning upscaling for improved image quality.

According to the PlayStation.Blog, this implementation is optimized to run efficiently on the original console’s architecture without the dedicated hardware found in the Pro model.

Echoes of Sekigahara and New Gameplay Features

The update coincides with the release of the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. This content features a dual-timeline narrative, splitting the story between the present-day setting of Ezo and flashback sequences depicting the Battle of Sekigahara. New trophies have been added to track progress through this expansion and other Complete Edition content.

Additional features included in this patch include:

  • Armor Transmogrification: A new feature allows players to keep an armor’s appearance while using different stats.
  • Beauty of Yotei: A specialized mode included in the October 1 update.
  • High-Contrast Options: New accessibility settings are now available to assist players.

Accessibility and Performance

Beyond the technical and narrative additions, update 2.005.000 introduces high-contrast accessibility options. The patch is available for both PS5 and PS5 Pro platforms, ensuring AI-driven benefits across the console family through either QSSR or PSSR respectively.
