The first episode of Marvel’s VisionQuest premiered at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026, ahead of its upcoming debut on Disney+. Early reactions to the screening suggest a series that leans into a “weird” and high-concept tone, with many critics comparing the quality and atmosphere to both WandaVision and the second season of Loki.

The series is scheduled to officially launch on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with a two-episode premiere. Led by showrunner Terry Matalas, the story follows the “White” version of Vision, played by Paul Bettany, in the years following the events of Westview. The character is living in disguise in Edinburgh as he attempts to navigate his own identity and existence.

The series features a surprising return for Ultron in a non-metallic, human-coded form.

One of the most discussed elements of the premiere is the return of James Spader as Ultron. Reports from the screening describe a significant departure from the character’s previous metallic appearance; Ultron appears in a “human avatar” form, characterized by a scruffy beard and long hair. This unconventional return is reportedly a central pillar of the series’ narrative as it explores Vision’s connection to his creator and his own internal architecture.

The show also features a supporting cast of AI personas that reside within Vision. These include the return of James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y. Additionally, Ruaridh Mollica appears as a teenage or young adult version of Tommy Maximoff, the speedster known as Speed.

VisionQuest is structured as an eight-episode season. Following its two-episode premiere on October 14, Disney+ will move to a weekly rollout format. The season is scheduled to conclude with its finale on November 11, 2026. While the series is often discussed as the final chapter of a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along, Matalas has also characterized the show as a direct sequel that maintains its own distinct identity.
