Mike Love, the 85-year-old co-founder of The Beach Boys, has returned to the stage following a wave of concert cancellations, despite what collaborator John Stamos describes as “serious health challenges.” Love performed on October 10 in Cincinnati and October 11 in Nashville, marking his first appearances after the band was forced to scrap nearly 30 tour dates between July and September 2026.
During the recent sets, Love remained seated throughout the performance and required physical assistance from Stamos and his son, Christian Love, to walk onto the stage. The return follows a last-minute cancellation in Bloomington on October 9, which was attributed to “unforeseen circumstances.”

Uncertainty Surrounding Future Performances
John Stamos, a long-time friend and frequent touring guest of the band, shared a candid update regarding Love’s condition following the Nashville show. Stamos reported that Love is currently facing significant physical hurdles and is reportedly ignoring advice from doctors, family, and friends who have urged him to stop touring to focus on his recovery.
“We don’t know what the future holds,” Stamos stated in a social media post, as reported by The Guardian. “We have tonight.”
The “60 Years of Pet Sounds” anniversary tour has faced significant disruption this year. Before the October return, the band had been sidelined for three months. The physical reality of his recent performances in Cincinnati has heightened concerns regarding the remainder of the tour schedule.
The Beach Boys currently have upcoming dates scheduled for Orlando and Bristol, Virginia. However, with Love’s mobility limited to performing while seated, it remains unclear if the band will be able to maintain the rigorous pace of the anniversary circuit.
