Apple Launches $299 HomeView Hub with Siri AI and Facial Recognition

Apple has unveiled the HomeView, its first dedicated smart home hub, marking a shift from the company’s typically sterile, high-design marketing aesthetic. Announced on October 13, the $299 device is positioned as the central nervous system for busy households, trading polished “white-glove” perfection for a more raw look at domestic life.

The HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by the A18 chip. According to official specifications from Apple, the device leverages Siri AI to manage smart home hardware, media, and family communication. A primary feature is its integrated facial recognition, which can identify up to six different household members to automatically serve personalized home screens, calendars, and data as they approach the unit.

The tabletop version of the HomeView is designed to integrate into high-traffic areas of the home.

Scheduled for release on November 13, 2026, the hardware is available in two distinct configurations. The tabletop model features a domed speaker base with a stainless steel hinge, available in colors including Starlight and Rose Pink. A wall-mounted version, designed for a more permanent installation, is limited to Silver and Space Gray. Apple has also coordinated with partners like LG and Schneider Electric to launch the “Home Collection,” a series of accessories that includes a power mount for the wall-integrated model.

The marketing campaign for the device, titled “Welcome Home,” has sparked a divide among observers. While some have characterized the ad as stressful, others have praised its portrayal of modern family dynamics. The ad notably omits individual iPhones in many scenes, emphasizing the HomeView as a shared communal resource rather than a personal screen.

Despite the rollout in the U.S., UK, and Canada, the HomeView will not be available in the European Union at launch. This delay is attributed to ongoing regulatory hurdles regarding the implementation of Siri AI within the region.

The launch coincides with a broader refresh of Apple’s home-focused hardware. Along with the HomeView, the company introduced a second-generation HomePod mini priced at $149 and a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. The new Apple TV 4K is priced identically to the HomeView at $299, positioning the two devices as different entry points for the company’s evolving “Home” ecosystem.
