Apple has published the official out-of-warranty repair costs for the iPhone Duo, revealing that some individual component replacements will cost nearly half the price of the device itself. With the 256GB base model starting at $1,999, the newly released service fees reflect the increased complexity and specialized parts used in Apple’s first foldable hardware.
The most significant expense for owners without insurance is the inner folding display. An out-of-warranty replacement for the internal screen is priced at $999, representing approximately 50% of the total cost of the device. The outer display is notably less expensive to service, carrying a flat repair fee of $379.
Screen Protection and Maintenance Costs
To help maintain the integrity of the folding mechanism, Apple has introduced a replaceable nano-texture cover layer. This specialized protection layer can be serviced out-of-warranty for $49. However, more routine maintenance has also seen a price increase; battery service for the iPhone Duo is set at an out-of-warranty fee of $229, a record high for the iPhone lineup that accounts for the device’s unique internal architecture.
AppleCare+ Coverage and Value
Given the high cost of individual repairs, AppleCare+ for the iPhone Duo is priced at a premium compared to standard models. Users can purchase coverage for $19.99 per month or a one-time payment of $399 for two years.
The release of these service figures comes just as Apple prepares for the official iPhone Duo launch. The “Get Ready” pre-order process is scheduled to begin October 12, 2026, with official pre-orders opening on Friday, October 16. The device will be available in retail stores and begin shipping to customers on October 23, 2026.
