RuneScape Dragonwilds Update 1.001.001 Fixes Controller UI Lock and Server Crashes

Jagex has released RuneScape Dragonwilds Update 1.001.001, focusing on a critical UI lock that previously prevented controller users from navigating the save file recovery process. The patch, which went live on October 17, 2026, is currently available for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox players.

Controller Focus and Stability Fixes

The primary fix in this update addresses a bug where the “Corrupted Save File Detected” modal would fail to receive controller focus. This issue effectively soft-locked the game for console and PC controller users, as they were unable to interact with the screen to bypass or acknowledge the notification. Following the update, controller input is now correctly registered on this UI element.

In addition to UI corrections, the patch resolves a significant server stability issue. Jagex confirmed that a dedicated server crash, previously triggered when Ranged Special Attacks hit specific enemy types, has been eliminated. This should improve session reliability for players using Ranged builds in high-density combat areas.

Switch 2 Crossplay Maintenance

While the 1.001.001 update is delayed on the Nintendo Switch 2, Jagex has implemented a temporary crossplay protocol to prevent community fragmentation. Switch 2 players can continue to interact with players on updated platforms (PC, PS5, and Xbox) despite the version mismatch. This allows the cross-platform ecosystem to remain active while the Nintendo-specific version of the patch undergoes final certification.

Known Issues and Expected Fixes

Despite the stability improvements in this version, Jagex has identified two specific bugs that players should be aware of:

  • Air Staff Damage: The fourth hit of the Air Staff combo currently fails to apply on-hit damage.
  • Chest Freezing: Splitting stacks of items while an inventory chest is open can cause the game to freeze.

According to official notes, a fix for the chest freezing bug is currently targeted for release during the following week. Players are advised to avoid splitting stacks within container interfaces until that update is deployed. For more details on recent changes, the official patch notes can be found at UpdateCrazy.
