A24’s new feature “You Can See Everything” has positioned itself as a rare commercial powerhouse in the documentary space following its record-breaking debut.
Amanda Seyfried, who previously portrayed Elizabeth Holmes in the scripted series The Dropout, appears as herself in the film. She serves as a surrogate and critic in the second half of the 174-minute production, interacting directly with co-director Nathan Fielder. This “meta” approach to the documentary format is a defining feature of the non-narrative performance.

Directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the film tracks Elizabeth Holmes and her partner Billy Evans during the final 34 days leading up to the start of her prison sentence. The film’s hybrid nature blends traditional documentary footage with structured cinematic elements.
In the 98-year history of the Academy Awards, no documentary has ever been nominated for the top prize. By utilizing acting and structured cinematic elements usually reserved for scripted features, the production challenges the traditional boundaries the Academy maintains between fiction and reality.

The film’s release is supported by significant box office momentum. During its opening weekend from October 16 to 18, 2026, “You Can See Everything” earned $15 million domestically across 855 screens. This performance represents the second-largest domestic opening for a non-concert documentary in history, surpassed only by the 2004 release of Fahrenheit 9/11.
