Apple has scheduled a product event for October 28, 2026, themed “Pro and Tell,” marking the third major hardware announcement window in two months. The event, confirmed by Apple Senior Vice President Greg Joswiak in a social media teaser, is expected to serve as the formal debut of the company’s first touchscreen-enabled laptops.
The timing of the “Pro and Tell” event is particularly significant for Apple’s corporate trajectory. John Ternus officially succeeded Tim Cook as CEO on September 1, 2026, and this upcoming hardware cycle represents the first major product launch fully under his leadership. The anticipated move toward touchscreen Macs signals a reversal of a decade-long product philosophy that previously separated touch interfaces for iPads from the cursor-driven experience of the Mac.

The Transition to Touchscreen MacBook Pros
The centerpieces of the October 28 event are reported to be redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. These machines are expected to feature OLED displays for the first time in the laptop lineup, offering higher contrast and improved power efficiency. Beyond the screen technology, reporting suggests the new models will integrate the Dynamic Island, replacing the notch that has housed the camera system since 2021.
Expanded 2026 Hardware Roadmap
The October event follows a high-velocity launch schedule for Apple. In September, the company introduced the iPhone 18 series alongside the iPhone Duo—Apple’s first foldable device.
In addition to the MacBook Pro, the “Pro and Tell” event is expected to include updates to the iPad mini. The refreshed tablet is rumored to adopt an OLED screen and move the FaceTime camera to the landscape edge, aligning it with the design language of the current iPad Air and iPad Pro models.
