Cold Symmetry has released update 1.000.014 for Mortal Shell II, introducing the seasonal “Rotten Autumn” content and a major expansion of the game world with 15 new dungeons. The patch, launched on October 20, 2026, focuses on substantial content additions and technical refinements following the sequel’s initial launch earlier this year.

New Dungeons and Exploration

The primary addition in this update is the inclusion of 15 new dungeons, significantly increasing the playable area for Shells exploring the world. To support this expansion, 10 new Tarstones have been added to the game’s item pool, including a specific “Sheep Specific” Tarstone.

Players can also utilize a newly added Photo Mode to capture high-resolution screenshots of the world and its inhabitants. For those interested in narrative depth, the ghost of a lost Shell now appears at various locations, offering cryptic notes that expand the lore of the sequel.

Rotten Autumn Seasonal Content

The “Rotten Autumn” update brings several cosmetic and audio changes to the game, including the return of seasonal items and new collaborations. Key features of this seasonal pack include:

  • Harbinger Pumpkin Helmet: A seasonal headpiece available for players.
  • Alternative Soundtrack: A new music option featuring Sakis Tolis of the band Rotting Christ.
  • Black Metal Mode: A specialized visual filter, accompanied by new lighting presets for Night Mode.
  • Impervious Lute: The update restores this lute skin and adds additional tracks for players to perform.

Technical Fixes and Performance

Patch 1.000.014 addresses several stability issues that were present in previous versions. This includes a fix for general stuttering across platforms and a resolution for a specific softlock that occurred during interactions with the Collector. According to details shared by PlayStation Universe, these fixes are intended to smooth out the gameplay experience for current-gen console and PC players.

This update is currently live for all supported platforms, marking the first major seasonal event for Mortal Shell II since its release in August 2026.
