Techland has released Dying Light 2 Update 2.001, headlined by the launch of the Halloween Showdown 2026 community event. This update focuses on a three-week seasonal celebration alongside significant technical resolutions for high-end PC features and PlayStation 5 performance stability.
The PlayStation 5 version 2.001 aligns with the PC internal build architecture, ensuring parity across platforms for the new event content. The Halloween Showdown spans both the open world of Villedor and the Tower Raid mode, introducing seasonal mechanics and specialized currency.
Halloween Showdown 2026 Event Details
The centerpiece of the update is a three-week engagement where players hunt featured enemies to collect Showdown Candies. These can be utilized in two primary ways:
- Baka’s Event Shop: Candies can be traded directly for seasonal items and gear.
- Community Goals: Contributing to broader community milestones offers an immediate return. For every 10 Showdown Candies donated toward a goal, players receive 500 Halloween Candies as a participation bonus.
Technical Fixes and PC Optimization
For PC players, this patch addresses specific conflicts between upscaling technologies and display settings. A notable fix resolves a bug where using Intel XeSS in conjunction with VSync caused a performance drop of 8 FPS.
Additional technical improvements include:
- FSR Frame Generation: Resolved flickering issues that occurred when AMD’s frame generation was active.
- Aiming Alignment: Corrected third-person mode aiming to ensure the projectile path accurately matches the crosshair location.
- PS5 Stability: Addressed frame rate spikes that specifically occurred during boss encounters on the PlayStation 5.
More information on the seasonal rewards and community progress can be found on the official Dying Light 2 news site. These changes are now live across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
