The October 22 hotfix for Gears of War: E-Day addresses critical stability issues and campaign progression blockers across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and handheld devices. Released on October 22, 2026, this update improves performance across all supported platforms.
Campaign and Stability Improvements
The primary focus of this hotfix is resolving several issues that prevented players from completing specific story sections. In Act Two, Chapter Two, The Coalition fixed a camera bug at the construction site that would cause the camera to detach from the player character. Additionally, the Visual Navigation Aid in Act Three, Chapter Three has been corrected; previously, the objective marker would remain stuck on the sinkhole even after the objective changed.
General stability has been improved across all platforms, with a specific focus on reducing crashes during gameplay sessions. Stability and performance fixes cover PC, Xbox, and handheld devices to ensure a more consistent experience.
Gameplay and Versus Adjustments
Several combat and multiplayer bugs have been resolved:
- Gnasher T-Pose Fix: Resolved an issue where characters would enter a T-pose when aiming down sights immediately after blind-firing a Gnasher from medium cover.
- Horde Siege: Updated the “Close E-Holes” secondary objective to prevent other squads from blocking completion progress.
- Ranked Matchmaking: The match dissolution timer for disconnected players has been increased to two minutes, fixing a bug where matches would end prematurely after only one minute of a player being absent.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming: The default graphics setting has been switched from Quality mode to Performance mode.
Known Issues Under Investigation
Despite these fixes, The Coalition is currently investigating an exploit in Versus mode that allows players to see through Smoke Grenades. This is tracked as a known issue and is expected to be addressed in a future update.
