Motorola officially entered the ultra-premium smartphone tier today, November 5, 2026, with the launch of the Signature 27. Priced at $1,599.99, the device represents the first time Motorola has brought its specialized Signature line to the United States market, targeting a price point and performance bracket typically occupied by the highest-tier offerings from Apple and Samsung.

The Signature 27 is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which features a record-breaking 5.01GHz clock speed. To manage the thermal demands of this processor, Motorola implemented a cooling technology dubbed ArcticMesh. This system utilizes a diamond-infused thermal gel to facilitate heat dissipation, allowing the device to maintain higher performance levels for longer periods without the aggressive throttling common in standard flagship builds.

Tandem OLED and High-Capacity Power

One of the most distinct hardware features of the Signature 27 is its 6.8-inch Tandem OLED display. The panel achieves a peak brightness of 12,000 nits, which is roughly four to five times the peak output of many 2025 flagship models. This display technology is designed for visibility in extreme direct sunlight while supporting high-dynamic-range content at levels previously reserved for high-end professional monitors.

Despite the high power requirements of the display and the “Extreme” chipset, Motorola has opted for a 7,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. This high-density battery technology allows for a larger capacity without significantly increasing the phone’s physical footprint. The device supports 90W wired fast charging to replenish the high-capacity cell.

Imaging and Audio Partnerships

The camera array on the Signature 27 includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. Beyond these traditional optics, the device incorporates a dedicated Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS) marketed as an “Action Sensor.” Unlike standard high-resolution sensors that capture frames at fixed intervals, the EVS sensor tracks changes in light and motion at the pixel level, specifically intended for high-speed motion tracking and improved response in low-light action photography.

For audio, Motorola has partnered with Bang & Olufsen to tune the Signature 27’s speaker system and internal DAC, marking a first for the manufacturer. On the software side, while the phone ships with Motorola’s standard interface, it includes official support for GrapheneOS. This inclusion is unusual for a carrier-targeted flagship and is aimed at users seeking enhanced privacy and security controls.

The Motorola Signature 27 is scheduled for a phased rollout. Pre-orders are confirmed to begin on November 19, 2026. General availability and shipping for the $1,599.99 device will follow on November 26, 2026.
