Robert Aramayo, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, has addressed long-standing fan-casting rumors linking him to the role of Wolverine in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. In a Variety interview published on November 8, 2026, the actor acknowledged the speculation while keeping his potential involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ambiguous.

When asked about the possibility of stepping into the role made famous by Hugh Jackman, Aramayo stated, “I can’t even imagine” playing the character, though he admitted, “You’re not the first person who’s said it.” More notably, Aramayo confirmed he is currently “working on something” that he is legally barred from discussing, a common refrain for actors entering the Disney-led superhero franchise.

The connection between Aramayo and the reboot grew stronger following reports that he shares the same publicist as Christopher Abbott, who has already been officially cast as Professor Charles Xavier. While shared representation is not a confirmation of casting, the link has fueled speculation that Marvel Studios is looking toward a specific circle of talent for the 2028 production.

The Expanding X-Men Roster

The X-Men reboot, directed by Jake Schreier, is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on May 5, 2028. Unlike previous iterations of the team, the MCU version appears to be building a core group of younger mutants, with several primary cast members already confirmed.

As of November 2026, the confirmed cast includes:

  • Christopher Abbott: Professor Charles Xavier
  • Kit Connor: Scott Summers / Cyclops
  • Sadie Sink: Jean Grey
  • Maya Boyd: Ororo Munroe / Storm
  • Inde Navarrette: Rogue
  • Adam Driver: Nathaniel Essex / Mister Sinister

The team continues to grow with more recent additions. On November 2, 2026, reports surfaced that Ben Wang has been cast as Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman. While the core team is largely established, the role of Logan remains the production’s most significant vacancy.

The Search for the New Wolverine

While Aramayo is currently a frontrunner in fan discussions, Marvel has not provided an official timeline for when the new Wolverine will be revealed. The distinction between the “younger” core team and the still-uncast Logan suggests the studio may be looking for a specific dynamic to contrast with the students at Xavier’s school.

Aramayo’s current “secret” project remains under wraps, leaving fans to speculate whether his upcoming work involves the May 2028 release or an entirely different production within the expanding MCU slate.
