A goalless draw looms over England and America in the 2022 World Cup

Doha: A goalless draw prevailed against England and the United States of America, in the match played between them at Al-Bayt Stadium today, Friday, in the second round of Group Two of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The England team brought their tally to four points in top the group, while the US outfit lifted their tally to two points in third place, behind second-placed Iranian outfit on three points, who beat their Welsh counterparts 2-0 today to bottom of the group table by one point. The qualifying groups will be decided until the last round, where the England national team will play their Welsh counterparts, while the American national team take on the Iranian national team next Tuesday. The match began with mutual attacks between the two teams, as the England national team, led by forward Harry Kane, entered along with Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling, while Timothy Waya led the attack of the American team. Throughout the first half, attempts varied between pushes and pulls, and neither Matt Turner, the American goalkeeper, nor Jordan Pickford, the England goalkeeper, were hit. And in the 33rd minute the most dangerous chances of the first half came for the Americans with Christian Polisic, who hit a powerful ball that hit the crossbar. Mason Mount hits a ball from outside area, but his shot was brilliantly saved by Matt Turner in the 43rd minute. The remaining minutes of the first half witnessed nothing new, so the referee blew the final whistle in a goalless draw. With the start of the second half, the American team took the initiative to attack Pickford’s goal, took control of thearea of midfield and closed all the exits in front of his own area penalty, to deprive the English team of the advantage of Harry Kane, who retired in back of the field, trying to distribute the game and move the wings Saka and Sterling, to no avail. On the other hand, Pulsic spearheaded the USA team’s attacks and heckled England defensive duo John Stones and Harry Maguire. As time went on, the England national team freed itself from the pressure of its American rival, and Gareth Southgate made two substitutions, with Jack Grealish and Jordan Henderson replacing Raheem Sterling and Judd Blingham, who in somehow helped relieve American pressure. And things went quietly in the last minutes of the match, as there were no serious attacks and fatigue prevailed over the players. In the third minute calculated instead of losing for the second half, England striker Harry Kane almost scored a fatal goal, when he directed a powerful header towards Turner’s goal, but it passed close to the right post , after which the referee blew his whistle at the end of the match, resulting in a goalless draw.
