A Gulf country grants SpaceX a license to provide Starlink Internet services

The Bahrain Communications Regulatory Authority said Wednesday that it has granted billionaire Elon Musk’s space company, SpaceX, a license to provide Starlink internet and satellite services in the kingdom.

Starlink is a unit of SpaceX and Bahrain is the first Gulf Cooperation Council country to license this service.

Musk’s SpaceX plans to fly thousands of Starlink satellites into space, to create a constellation of internet services that would serve as a low-cost alternative to remote ground systems that are vulnerable to disruption.
