A magnitude 5.7 earthquake strikes the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean

Today an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

The US Geological Survey said the quake’s epicenter occurred 80km southeast of Lata, Solomon Islands, at a depth of 93km.

No material or human damage was reported as a result of the earthquake and no warnings were issued about the possibility of a tsunami.
