Aamir Khan says it is open to the remake of ‘Lagaan’

Aamir Khan revealed that Lagaan can potentially be redone, should a filmmaker show interest in Doing so.

He said he wouldn’t hesitate to give film rights car it is curious to see another perspective.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Lagaan on June 15, 2021, on asked Aamir if he believed the movie could be remade.

Aamir, whose company Aamir Khan Productions produced Lagaan, mentionned:

“It can be done. But I don’t want to do it because Ashutosh (director Ashutosh Gowariker) and I already made Once.

“It’s going to be boring for us make the same movie again.

“But if another filmmaker wants to do Lagaan, Ashutosh and I will be happy to give him the rights.

“They will have their own point of view.

It came on say he would be interested in who would have play the lead role of Bhouvan.

Aamir continued, “I don’t believe in be possessive about my films.

“I would like like to have who will do Bhuvan better than me. I would learn something from it.

“It will be a different movie, I like to see that, it will be charming.

Lagaan follows the story of Bhuvan (Aamir Khan), a villager from Champaner in Gujarat, who is challenged by a British officer, played by Paul Blackthorne, to a game of cricket, as a bet for avoid pay the taxes they owe.

He remains one of The most iconic Bollywood movies.

however, director Ashutosh Gowariker revealed he would do one change if he had to do Lagaan today.

He revealed: “I would definitely do exactly the way I made that, but there would be one “Correction” that I would like like make.

“And the correction is that when we made the film then, it was four hours and five minutes, the first cut we had.

“And we had removed 18 or 20 minutes of an entire track, where Captain Russell would stop the villagers and put them behind bars, and framing them, then Elizabeth coming to rescue them.

“It was a very interesting track, with a lot of romance that was intertwined between the three of them – Bhuvan, Gauri and Elizabeth. It had to go.

“Today, if I have to make the movie, I would kind of try to keep it inclusive of the three hours 44 minutes, so that the public may enjoy this also, which is a tall order, but I would have loved to do that.
