Afghanistan 131 Taliban killed in attacks in different provinces

The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan said on Saturday that the army managed to regain control of the Gozar district of Herat province and expelled Taliban elements After the killing of 131 militants, 62 were wounded, while 5 militants were arrested, underlining that the Afghan army supports the pace, but Government forces are in able to defeat the Taliban.

The ministry added, in a statement posted on Twitter: “The Afghan National Security Forces, with the support of the Afghan Air Force, have regained control of the Gozar district of Herat province from Taliban control.”

The ministry confirmed that the army managed to seize a large amount of weapons and ammunition during the operation.

Afghanistan is currently witnessing clashes between government forces and Taliban militants who control large rural areas and launch continuous attacks on major Afghan cities.

The tension rises in Afghanistan against the backdrop of the US administration’s promises to end the process of withdrawing its forces from Afghan territory by 11 September next.
