Spanish police intercepted 3 more packages containing animal eyes sent to the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid and its consulates in Barcelona and Malaga on Monday, according to police sources close to the investigation.
The sources said postal security personnel discovered the new parcels during a check on Monday morning and alerted law enforcement.
He also added that officers found no explosive or flammable materials inside the packages, according to Reuters.
On Monday, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko also confirmed the interception of the new parcels.
He said there are now 21 known cases in to which such threats have been sent to diplomatic missions in 12 countries.
Interestingly, Ukraine announced last week that a number of “bloody parcels” were being sent to its missions in across Europe, shortly after a parcel bomb exploded at the Ukrainian embassy in Spain.
While police deactivated other packages, one was sent to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
The Ukrainian embassy in Madrid had already received on Friday a package containing animal eyes, which according to the Interior Ministry bore a foreign stamp.
