Ajay Devgn will soon be seen on the big screen in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior by director Om Raut. The film will reunite Ajay and his wife, Kajol, after nine long years of absence. The film is a historic drama based on Subedar Taanaji Malusare, the military leader of the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who lost his life in the battle of Fort Sinhagad. Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing a negative role as Udaybhan Singh Rathod in the film.
In a recent interview, Ajay explained how he and the creators planned to turn this into a franchise called Unsung Warriors. “We had decided to create a franchise on warriors unknown to our history. Om (Raut, director) came to see me with this story by Tanaji Malusare. It was fabulous to start our franchise. The idea is to bring out state histories these heroes came not only from other states of the country but also from around the world, “said Ajay, who will be considered a historic warrior for the first time in Tanhaji.
He even continued to reveal a few names of the other warriors they already screened and then brought to the big screens.
“We have preselected a few. But the next one will be based on King Suheldev, who defeated Mahmud from Ghazni’s army in Bahraich (in Uttar Pradesh today) in the 11th century AD. Ghazni had done raze the temple of Somnath and after defeating his army, Suheldev rebuilt it. The film will be based on the book by Amish Tripathi, which he is currently working on. We met and discussed the adaptation of the film, “said Ajay.
