Al-Ahly of Egypt rescinds the contract of his South African manager, Pitso Mosimane

Cairo: Egypt’s Al-Ahly, ten-time African champion and 42 local league, announced on Monday the termination of the contract of his South African manager, Pitso Mosimane, “by mutual agreement”, two weeks after losing the African Champions League final League in football against Moroccan Wydad, assigning as provisional technical director the general manager of the first team, Sami Komous. Al-Ahly wrote on his site web official: “The management of the club today thanked South African Pitso Mosimane … after the contract was terminated by mutual agreement. “He continued:” Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the president of the clubhad met with the Al-Ahly football company led by Yassin Mansour and in the presence of captain Hossam Ghaly, a member of the board of directors of the club, and the Planning Committee, to discuss Pitso Mosimani’s position. Unanimously they agreed to continue him in his mission in the interest of the stability of the team, and given the successes he achieved with the team, but Musimani, during the meeting with him, asked not to continue. Musimani, 57, led Al-Ahly to the Champions League title twice in 2020 and 2021, before losing to Wydad with two goals, the 2020 Egypt Cup and the World Cup bronze for club in the last two editions, but failed to win the local championship. The termination of Musimani’s contract, who in 2016 also won the Champions League as a manager with the Mamelodi Sundowns, comes after the crisis of the club Al-Ahly with the Egyptian Federation, because the club Cairo felt that the Federation did not support him enough to urge the Continental Federation to move the final match of the Champions League from Casablanca to a neutral stadium. He hoped to become the first team to win the continental championship three times in a row. Mosimane excels with the Sundowns, with whom he won the local championship five times, between 2012 and 2020, knowing that he coached the “Bafana Bafana” team between 2010 and 2012. Musimani, who is recently in Morocco to attend training, on Sunday he had missed Al-Ahly’s match against Al-Masry in Salloum in the cup competition and was led by coach Sami Komsan, and also missed Monday’s morning training, a few hours before official announcement of his departure.
