Al-Alimi visits Jordan to discuss efforts to deter Houthi threat to shipping safety

The head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, arrived today, Monday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in official visit, during which he will meet the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, and some senior officials.

Al-Alimi and his accompanying delegation were received at Marka military airport by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and a number of officials.

During the visit, Al-Alimi will discuss developments in the Yemeni situation and its regional and international repercussions, and joint efforts to deter Houthi terrorist threats to Red Sea security, global trade supplies and pace and international security.

In a statement to the Yemeni news agency, Saba, the president of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his great appreciation to Jordan for its stands alongside the Yemeni people and its political leadership in various regional and international forums, and its aspirations to restore state institutions and end the coup by the Iranian regime-backed Houthi militia.

Al-Alimi praised the Jordanian humanitarian facilities provided to thousands of Yemenis in escape from the Houthi militia war or those who come for studio and treatment, as well as its efforts to host regular discussions and consultations between Yemeni parties and components in support of efforts to establish the pace and stability in Yemen.

Al-Alimi also expressed confidence that this visit will be a further impetus to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.

Al-Alimi is accompanied during the visit by members of the Presidential Leadership Council, Tariq Saleh and Abdullah Al-Alimi, and by Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.
