Al-Burhan: There is no elected government in Sudan and we work without his support

Today, Wednesday, the Sudanese Sovereignty Council recorded a clear blame on the country’s government and politicians, blaming them for the fragmentation that has taken place.

The head of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, felt that the slogans of the revolution were lost amidst the struggle for positions, stressing that the security forces are protecting the transition phase in the country.

“We are working alone without the support of the civilian government,” he said in a speech before a military graduation ceremony in Omdurman.

He also added: “There is no elected government and we are the guardians of safeguarding the security of the homeland.” He continued: “We are the guardians, despite everyone’s consent, of Sudan’s unity and security”.

In a clear and explicit rebuke to the civilian government, he felt that the military had abandoned “the executive work of politicians, but the issue deviated from the straight line. via”.

He also explained that the armed forces accepted the premier’s initiative despite his exclusion of the military component, saying: “We were not invited to the premier’s initiative, even though we are partners in the transition phase.”

He continued: “I tell the political interlocutors that we must work together without excluding any component”.

Furthermore, he felt that political forces ignore the sufferings of the road and focus their efforts on offending the military. “We believe in the democratic transition and the need for a successful transition period and we do not want power,” he added.

Politicians are the reason

In turn, the first vice president of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (nicknamed Hemedti), accused the politicians of repeating coup attempts in Sudan.

He said: “Clearly and frankly, I see that the reason for the repeated coup attempts are the politicians who gave the opportunity to the coups.” He also believed that “politicians neglected the citizen and his basic services and were concerned about the struggle for seats and offices, which created a state of dissatisfaction and restlessness among the people”.

“We found nothing but humiliation.”

Furthermore, he stressed that the country is going through a critical phase after the change that occurred about 3 years ago.

He revealed that the military has faced a series of coup attempts since the beginning of the transition period, adding that they have used all their capabilities to establish stability in the country and preserve the transition period, but have found nothing but humiliation. .


It also indicated that the military supported Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok’s initiative to overcome the tension, but was ruled out.

He also called for abandoning the methods of betrayal directed against the national institutions that run the country, stressing that there is no via exit if not unifying the word and working on a specific goal. He concluded: “We have no ambitions and we do not seek personal gains”.

Interestingly, the Sudanese army announced yesterday that it had foiled a coup by a group of Armored Corps officers to seize power, pointing out that all involved had been arrested.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture and Information Hamza Balloul, spokesman for the government, announced yesterday in an official statement that the perpetrators of the coup were an army group affiliated with the previous regime (the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir), considering that this coup was intended to turn the clock back.
