Al-Jubeir calls for effective international participation to tackle climate change

His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and Climate Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, led the Kingdom delegation that attended the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate (MEF), which was convened and opened by His Excellency President Joseph Biden of the United States of America.

His Excellency opened the Kingdom speech, delivered via video technology, thanking the President of the United States for hosting this important summit, in one moment in which the world is facing the challenges of climate change.

His Excellency called for serious work on a common and effective international response, mobilizing all efforts to address it, taking into account the special circumstances facing LDCs and supporting them in addressing the negative effects of climate change policies, without hindering their sustainable development.

His Excellency reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts and its local, international and regional initiatives to address climate challenges, and his 2030 vision saw these challenges by making environment and sustainable development one of its main goals.

His Excellency stressed the Kingdom’s continued interest and commitment to cooperate with all international and regional partners to combat climate change and help achieve global goals to create a better environment for generations future.
