Alex Galchenyuk trade rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins forward on the block, per reports

With the Pittsburgh Penguins facing injuries and adversity to stay in the playoffs, Alex Galchenyuk is undoubtedly in the trading team, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

In Canada’s hockey night on Saturday, Friedman was discussing the penguins and said they were buying the 25-year-old forward.

“Penguins look around to see what fits there for him,” Friedman told the show. “I think Buffalo is one of the teams that looked at him, but Galchenyuk is someone who could find a new home.”

Galchenyuk, who was traded to the Arizona Coyotes as part of an exchange for Phil Kessel, failed to find ground with Pittsburgh – or fill the gap in the score. In 21 games with the Pens, he has recorded two goals, 10 points and a minus-3 rating and is averaging seven goals and 35 points. Last season, he scored 19 goals for the Coyotes. only marked his first season with his new team on 25 November.

The third overall pick for 2012 is making $ 4.9 million this season before hitting the free agent market on July 1. At this point, Galchenyuk would be a lease and could benefit from a change of scenery.

Given the Sabers’ current situation as they try to maintain their place in the standings, Galchenyuk could help provide a secondary rating – both in power and in power play. He is a proven player with a better shot who can make creative games on the go, but needs to add more consistency and aggressiveness to his game while improving his play on both ends of the ice.

In 511 career games, Galchenyuk has recorded 129 goals, 306 points and a minus-56 rating.
