Amid fears of an attack on Ukraine, Belarus is transporting troops and equipment

Belarus plans to transfer military equipment and forces today, Wednesday and tomorrow, Thursday, in what he called anti-terrorism drills, amid fears that Russia could launch an attack on Ukraine from its ally’s territory.

“During this period, it is planned to transfer military equipment and personnel of the national security forces,” the official Belta news agency said, citing the Belarusian Security Council.

“Citizens’ movement and transportation will be restricted along some roads and public areas, and imitated weapons are expected to be used for training purposes,” he added.

No information was available on which parts of the country might be affected by these measures.

Belarus has repeatedly said it will not enter in war in neighboring Ukraine, but President Alexander Lukashenko in The past has ordered its forces to side with Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, citing threats to Belarus from Kiev and the West.

Ukraine has warned for months that it fears Belarus and Russia are planning an incursion across its northern borders.

The Ukrainian General Staff stated, in a statement posted on Facebook today Wednesday, that “enemy units are being trained at training grounds in the Republic of Belarus” and that Russian attacks continue from the territory of Belarus.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held talks with his counterpart last week in Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, to discuss military cooperation.
